about

Layering nebulous forms with hypnotically repetitive patterns,'Twelve' is a series of 'electronic drawings' conceptually driven by the formal elements of design (line, shape, form, texture, space, value, color). It uses these visual building-blocks as an approach to sonic composition, placing them within the texturally murky and saturated medium of tape layering and recording (working with old TEAC Stereo recorders.) "12" also emphasizes visual counterpoints such as flatness vs. depth and opacity vs. transparency as experiential phenomena within the stereo field. Each process in 'Twelve' unravels and asserts such elements as experiential in their own right– they are designed to conjure visceral, emotional and surrealistic modes, completely independent of a narrative.
