Blue Window is a long-distance collaboration between sound artist, Jeremy Santiago-Horseman (Providence, USA) and experimental vocalist, Lera Borisova (Moscow, Russia). It was originally designed as a spatial, multi-channel installation, which weaves together analog modular electronics, granular synthesis, small orchestra, and recorded vocal improvisations from Borisova.
An imaginative, sonic landscape, Blue Window focuses on obscure memories and images evoked by audio sensations, where familiarity confronts unfamiliarity. As it It weaves together recognizable musicality with noise, multilingual texts, and guttural fragments, Blue Window is designed to conjure a spectrum of timbres, textures and colors which skew physical and psychological boundaries. It teases the listener with uncanny apparitions of narrative modes, such as horror, mystery and even epic, exploration based fantasy. It further collides these comparable modes with fractured religious texts and poetic descriptions of nature. As Blue Window is a complexly layered construction of formal elements with narrative impressions, it is intended to confront the listener with unsettling emotions which phase in and out of balance and clarity.
